Guide: how to draw face(front side)

So, the very first lesson I will teach you is how to draw a manga face upfront.

Here are the steps:


1. The technique Im about to teach you is used by wide range of artists(a.k.a most commonly used). This method of drawing starts from a simple circle try to make it as circle as possible.(yea we know I used paint but whatever, just to show you)

2. Then after drawing the circle, make a straight vertical line cutting the circle(or oval, depending how well u draw the circle) in half. It doesn't have to be precise, but the more symmetrical it is, the better your result will be. after wards, now this is quite different. The horizontal line, if you have seen other guides, will also have to cut the circle in half. However in my tutorial, it is 3/4 of the circle. Now my technique isn't perfect. So if you are used to cutting it in half, feel free to do so.

3. The chin. Now chins may be easy to draw depending how well-cut the circle is. But one point though, in drawing chins there are limitations on how long a chin can be. The key is to find balance.
3.a  The eyes. The bread and butter of manga.  Well made eyes can result is brilliant result.
A well made eye isn't only about the complexity, it's about balance. Remember the vertical line used to cut the circle? it's used to find the balance. The eyes must be at least 90% similar in size and also 90% similar in their distance from the vertical line.
3.b Mouth and nose. For mouth, finding your own suitable type of mouth is better. But if you want to follow my style, my mouth is usually located in between the 2 chin lines, with the nose just a dot and located close to the mouth(very close).

4. finishing up

Clean the horizontal and vertical lines.. Now it;s time to draw the hairstyle. Hairstyle in manga is virtually limitless. However it is to be noted that hairs should not be to puffeh and mess up with the head anatomy
(dont let the hair touch the circle.)

Tips in drawing:
1. Balance. remember that, nothing more to say.
2. Try to draw a lot of variation of eyes. The most reachable example is the manga that you had. try imitating those eyes for certain characters. It is useful later on. Believe me.
3.remember, boys have longer chins while girls have shorter chins and a pair of bewbs.
